Thanks to pandora.com, I was introduced to and fell in love with Regina Spektor’s music. Yesterday, a friend of mine posted the following you-tube video on facebook.
As much as I enjoy Regina’s music, I doubt I would have ever been searching through you-tube videos for Regina Spektor goofs. Thank you Lynn for sharing.
I think this clip should be seen by two kinds of people: anyone who likes Regina Spektor- after watching it, you will immediately love her; and, anyone who is not necessarily planning on making a mistake in the immediate or distant future.
For that second group of folks, here’s why: Mistakes in life are about the when. They will happen. So help yourself out. Plan for it.
Go through life doing something you enjoy doing. Surround yourself with people who love you, who adore you – the kind of people who will accept you when you make a mistake. Surround yourself with the kind of people who will encourage you, laugh with you, and even offer to tell you the words to your own song when you forget them!
When you do make a mistake, don’t fumble your way through it or try to cover it up… admit it. Next step: follow Regina’s lead and do something so many of us either forget to do or think is completely unacceptable to do. “What are the words?” That’s right. Ask for help.
Equally important, you need to smile your way through it the entire time. For this smile, you’ll find the inspiration in your heart. It’s the smile that says you know it’s going to be ok.
I know this all sounds rather difficult, but it will be remarkably effortless. As long as you are doing something you enjoy while surrounded by people who adore you.
Once you’re out of the spotlight, you too may find that people love you, and your graceful ability to make a mistake in front of thousands of people, even more than they loved you before.
